The 19th World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WCDEM) will be held in Cape Town (also known as the “Mother City”), South Africa. The conference runs from 21 to 24 April 2015 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The event will be hosted by the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) in conjunction with the Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa (EMSSA).
This year’s theme for the conference is “Creating Capacity, Building Resilience”., At the heart of this theme are prevention and preparedness. Rapid progress is being made in Africa regarding emergency medicine and disaster management, despite limited resources and infrastructure.
