Lodox was pleased to attend the SORSA (Society of Radiographers of South Africa) RSSA (Radiological Society of South Africa) bi-annual meeting, held at the Durban International Convention Centre over the weekend.
The congress was well-attended, and several invited speakers (mainly from the USA) gave some very interesting presentations. There was a track dedicated to Emergency Radiology, illustrating some of the new techniques at use in this arena, as well as some of the potential pitfalls.
Overall, there was a theme of striving to reduce unnecessary exposure to dose. Particularly in the South African context, speakers also discussed the difficulties in making the best medical decisions when faced with restricted radiological resources. In both cases, the solution would seem to be to ensure that all imaging is medically justified and appropriate. Lodox hopes to be part of this process, by providing a low-dose method that can often aid in guiding future imaging choices.
